The next gene is still stuttering: In 2023 the new generation really starts for me

Stop, stop! Please do not let the heading of this article irritate you. Because the “new” generation, which of course is meant here, is of course there for a long time in the form of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/s. A year and a half to be precise, which now makes it “Current Gen” consoles.

But at least I still don’t really arrive in the here and now. On the one hand, this is of course due to the still slow availability, because not everyone who absolutely wants to have a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S still have 1. On the other hand, only a few titles have been published in the 18 months since the launch that really deserved the “Next Gen” stamp in technical terms.

more and more developers are relying on PS5/Xbox Series X/S-Only

Here, too, the reasons are obvious: on the one hand, this new generation of consoles was more of one that could be felt rather than see by the numerous Quality of Life improvements (faster loading times, switching between individual games, etc.). And on the other hand, you can’t get rid of the feeling that some titles were at least a little back in their graphic performance by cross-gen-releases.

But at the latter point I see a clear development. In the meantime, the announcements of the titles that will only appear on PS5 and/or Xbox Series X/s are increasing. This starts with a few titles, the release of which is planned this year – such as Starfield or a Plague Tale Requiem. However, the big mass of these games will only expect us in the next, among other things with Fable, Spider-Man 2 or Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Jedi Fall Order 2, of which it is also rumored that it is also developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles will.

Tobi still describes the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, even after 18 months, still as “Next gen” consoles. Not because they are not there yet, but because in his opinion there is still a lot of potential that has not yet been exhausted. But that could be the case soon.

2023 could have more highlights ready in technical terms

As much as I can understand that many publishers and manufacturers still publish their titles for the PS4 and Xbox One generation-who finally wants to leave this installed hardware basis outside in the current supply situation? -As much as I hope for the technical jump from the PS5/Xbox Series X/S-Only Releases, which has already flashed here and there (e.g. at Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart), but has not yet penetrated completely.

So that this is clear: I don’t want to title here like Horizon Forbidden West or the upcoming God of War 2: Ragnarok. I also do not think that everything will look bombastic and megatol in one fell swoop next year and good games should be the apart from the technology. And above all, I know that many who do not yet have PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are probably not as good as I do.

Nevertheless, this tendency means the next step in this generation for me. And I expect the technical “Wow” moments to increase noticeably, especially in 2023-precisely because the teams can obviously only focus more on the “new” hardware. And then I hope that you not only feel this generation mainly, but in many cases also see at first glance – what would be like a second starting shot for me.

Games up-to-date 03/2022: Title Story forSpoken, Pokemon

You could not take it to you, you would not have noticed that PS5 and Xbox Series X and thus the consoles of the new hardware generation are now over a year on the market. Probably to a good part, but not exclusively because of Corona, the past twelve months did not feel right after next-gene. Do not understand wrong, 2021 many great titles appeared on PS5 and Series X, but if it would have needed the new consoles?

That may at least be doubted. But now! Now we see numerous titles in the coming months, which the new generation is likely to pursue permanently. Yes, even the appears in part still for the aged predecessor crates. But if you look at a Horizon: Forbidden West, an elder ring or a foresken, then that definitely feels after departure, and the technical differences between new and old are likely to be felt.

From blockbuster to indie everything!

Also well filled is the test area, led by the Nintendo Switch Exclusive Pokémon Legend: Arceus. But also Rainbow Six: Extraction, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Inscrustom, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach and other titles we treat detailed.

Birthdays, retro pleasures and NFT controversies

Anyone who wants to properly bite in all sorts of specials and reports is also at his expense.
